Julia's Weight Loss Journey
Sunday, August 30, 2015
February of 2014: In hopes of setting a good example for my staff and to encourage them to participate in our companies annual health risk assessment, I went to my appointment. I got weighed, 350 pounds! I had my blood pressure taken, pre-hypertensive! I had my blood drawn, it came back pre-diabetic, high cholesterol! Needless to say I was shocked and ready to cry when I left.
That night I spoke to my mother and told her how much I weighed. I felt desperate. I shouldn’t be going through this at my age... not yet anyway (I was not even forty!). We talked at length and decided to start a plan. On March 31, 2014, I started my health journey with my mother. We were going to support each other and hold each other accountable while being encouraging along the way.
I can’t tell you that it was easy or that I didn’t fall along the way. But I did learn to celebrate each little milestone. I can tell you that when I could walk to my car without being winded and my back hurting, I celebrated. When I passed on a food item that would have been my downfall, I celebrated. When my clothes size started to shrink, I celebrated. When I stepped on the scale and saw that I weighed the same weight I was when I was 20 years old, I celebrated. I celebrated, not because I achieved a goal, but because I knew that I was adding years to my life each step of the way. I had a lot of living left to do!
Update: I now weigh 232 pounds for a grand total of 126 pounds lost! My blood work and blood pressure are perfect! My doctor couldn’t be more pleased with my progress. I say progress because I still have more to go. I am still not at my healthiest but I am getting there. Day by day, step by step. I can’t thank CREATION Health enough for holding up that mirror to let me see where I was heading. It has been a tool that has helped me along in this journey and I will take it forward in life.
Congratulations Julia C.! We are proud of your accomplishments and are happy to be a part of your journey!
