After gaining 33 pounds in a little over 3 years, I felt like my life was a roller coaster. I was frustrated and disgusted... and STRESSED! It became a daily battle, starting each day with the promise and prayer to be watchful of what I ate, etc. By noon, I was starving and discouraged… and STRESSED! I didn’t know how to get off the roller coaster, or even slow it down.
I had decided that the first Monday of the month I was going to get started… and lo and behold, we had a local Creation Health Wellness Challenge that began that Sunday. I weighed in that Monday and was at an all-time high. I was a little nervous, but by 10 a.m., I had a pedometer and had read the C-Choice of the day and was ready to roll.
I challenged myself to 3 miles a day (I went online to see how many steps equal a mile for my height and learned it was 2,357). I wrote in my Creation Health Journal that I needed 7,071 steps per day to equal my 3 miles. Not once, in my 8 weeks and since, have I walked less than 7,071 steps! I progressed weekly and after a record of 94,024 steps in week 7, I set 100,000 steps as my 8th week goal… I walked 103,967 steps! I was so proud of myself I wanted to shout it from the mountaintops!
Every Sunday I reported my weekly step total to my local coach. They were always so encouraging, it helped to hang on.
My second challenge was a minimum of 40 ounces of water per day. That sounds like nothing, but I barely drank 10 ounces before. To this day, I have met my goal and most days have 64 to 80 ounces!
I have only missed 6 days of walking on my treadmill since then, and that was due to a recent upper respiratory and sinus infection. I missed all 6 days in a row and started right back!
I lost 11.8 pounds in my 8 week challenge and have continued to eat healthier and exercise and I’m down 13.8 pounds of my 25 pound goal.
I feel better physically and mentally than I have in a long while…and feel so blessed to have been introduced to the Creation Health challenge at the right time. Do I believe that is a coincidence? Not hardly! God’s timing is always right!
Congratulations Kathie! We are proud of your accomplishments and excited to be a part of your story!
